After the battle, Din thanked the Great Eagles for their timely intervention, crowning their chief with gold and swearing the Dwarves to everlasting friendship with them. Possibly the son of Thorin III Stonehelm. With Thorin's death in the battle, Din became King of Durin's Folk and King under the Mountain, the first not of the main line. The son of Dáin II Ironfoot, he succeeded his father during the siege of the Lonely Mountain and ruled in the aftermath of the War of the Ring. He died during the Battle of Dale in TA 3019. The son of Náin and second cousin of Thorin II Oakenshield, Dáin II Ironfoot succeeded Thorin II in TA 2941. He was killed shortly afterward in the Battle of Five Armies along with his nephews Fíli and Kíli. Thorin II Oakenshield was briefly restored to the throne in TA 2941 after the death of Smaug. The son of Thráin II, he succeeded his father in TA 2850 as de jure king. The son of Thrór, he succeeded his father in TA 2790 as de jure king, and died a prisoner in Dol Guldur in TA 2850. In TA 2770 Smaug conquered the Lonely Mountain and forced King Thrór and the surviving Dwarves into exile and became the de facto king until his death. He became King under the Mountain in 3019 (in Tolkiens legendarium) after Dain died in the War of the North. The Quest of Erebor is recounted by Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.fter the battle of Five Armies, Thorin Oakenshield was briefly King under the Mountain but died. In TA 2770 with the coming of Smaug, King Thrór was forced into exile until he was later murdered in Moria by Azog in TA 2790. Did Thorin Oakenshield have a son They did have a son named Thorin (III) Stonehelm who was born in TA 2866. He returned to the Lonely Mountain following the death of his father Dáin I in TA 2589, he re-founded the Kingdom. The Dwarves settled in the Grey Mountains to the north west. The son of Thráin I, he abandoned the Lonely Mountain in TA 2210. It isn’t until Moria is retaken by Sauron’s armies in The Fellowship of the Ring that these good-natured blacksmiths are forced to return to war.He founded the first kingdom in the Lonely Mountain and discovered the Arkenstone. Following Thorin’s death, the Dwarfs enter another era of peace. While he never takes possession of his father’s ring, Thorin restores the Dwarf’s heritage by taking back Moria in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. When Saruman ( Christopher Lee), Elrond ( Hugo Weaving), and Galadriel ( Cate Blanchett) come to rescue Gandalf from the Necromancer, Thráin II is killed in the skirmish with the dark forces. Gandalf discovers that Thráin II has been tortured for information, but chose to protect Moria’s secrets. The identity of the “Necromancer” isn’t revealed within the original text of The Hobbit, but it's implied in later Tolkien projects that this mysterious figure is a form of Sauron. Gandalf ( Sir Ian McKellen) ultimately discovers Thráin II after he has been taken prisoner by the Necromancer. After the death of Thorin in the Battle of Five Armies, Dainbecomes King under the Mountain. III.1 He was the Lord of the Iron Hills and later, after the death of Thorin Oakenshield, the King under the Mountain and the King of Durins Folk. What he does not know is that his father lost the Ring of Thrór in a battle with the Orc leader Azog, who returned it to Sauron. Although he is assumed to be dead, Thorin does not find his father’s body among the fallen in Moria. Thráin II is driven mad with grief when Smaug overruns his forces. Although Thráin II becomes the King under the Mountain, his boastful arrogance gets the better of him. The Ring of Thrór ultimately makes its way to Thráin II ( Sir Antony Sher), Thorin’s father.
